A veteran in MMA, Jan Blachowicz had his time as a prospect in the light heavyweight division (up to 93kg). At a high point in his career when Jon Jones was still the champion of the category, the Pole revealed a false promise from 'Bones', in which he was guaranteed, on two occasions, a title fight in the division. Despite the expectation, the athlete never had the opportunity to face the legend of the sport.
“Yes, I was very disappointed when he went down to heavyweight because he promised me he would fight me twice. The first time, I met him at the mall two weeks before my fight and he said, ‘If you win, you’re next.’ After I beat Corey Anderson , I talked to him and he said I was next. And then he went down to heavyweight. He ran away, you know. He ran from me,” Blachowicz told FullSendMMA.

At the time, Blachowicz was coming off three consecutive wins and ended up earning a title shot, but without Jones present after the American relinquished his title to move up to heavyweight. In a fight for the vacant title, the Pole faced Dominick Reyes and knocked out his rival, becoming the new king of the division.
Since then, Jon Jones has never returned to his former division and is now the UFC heavyweight champion.
