The subject was addressed by Canadian journalist Ariel Helwani in interview last Wednesday (26). According to the former champion, he won three rounds on his own count. Alex would have won the first, third and fifth rounds, according to himself. The Brazilian star explained the reasons for understanding it this way.
“I don’t think I was at my best, compared to all the other performances I’ve had, at least in the UFC. But I think I did a good job with all the conditions I had. I didn’t agree with some things, with the decision right there. That takedown I took in the third round, if I’m not mistaken. I don’t know if they counted it. I still don’t know. I didn’t go after it. I want to rest without thinking too much about it. But, if I had been knocked out at that moment, would I have been disqualified then?” he asked. Alex Poatán.
In addition to expressing confidence for revenge, Poatan admitted that was in trouble health in his fourth title defense, but avoided going into detail about the subject so as not to sound like an excuse. Previously, Joe Rogan claimed that the Brazilian had a broken hand and intestinal pain when he performed at the UFC 313. So far there are no open negotiations for a rematch between Poatan and Ankalaev.
