An old training video between Khamzat Chimaev and Caio Borralho resurfaced on social media this Monday (21), amid speculation about a possible confrontation between the two at UFC 317, scheduled for 'Fight Week' in July.

The footage, shared by the organization itself, shows the Chechen fighter in a dominant position during a sparring session in 2022, according to rumors that Borralho would replace the injured champion Dricus du Plessis in the fight for the interim middleweight title (up to 83,9kg).

The confusion began when Dricus du Plessis, the current champion of the division, withdrew from his fight against Chimaev scheduled for UFC 317. The withdrawal, attributed to an injury, left the organization searching for a last-minute replacement. That's when Caio Borralho publicly offered himself as an alternative.

The proposal gained strength with Chimaev's quick response. The Chechen posted an image on his Instagram in which he suggested that he had finished the Brazilian precisely in training in 2022. fighter print was, in fact, taken from the scenes published by Dana White's company.

The provocation rekindled memories of the time the two athletes trained together in Sweden and Las Vegas, before 'Lobo's' fight against Nate Diaz – which never happened. Despite the public clash, the UFC has not yet confirmed the fight.
