Since his UFC debut in February 2024, Carlos Prates has achieved the status of one of the most feared prospects in the sport. With an aggressive style and surgical precision, the “Nightmare” has defeated veterans such as Neil Magny e li jingliang, both by knockout, securing four consecutive 'Performance of the Night' awards.

The event marks the UFC's third visit to Kansas City and features 12 fights, including the veteran's farewell Anthony Smith. For Carlos Prates, this is his second time as a headliner — a rare feat for a fighter with less than two years left on his contract.
