Ian Gary won Carlos Prates by unanimous decision in the main event of UFC Kansas City, held last Saturday (26), and used the post-fight moment to reinforce his connection with Brazil. In a statement to 'UFC Fight Pass', the 27-year-old fighter demanded the regularization of Brazilian documents and stated that the country is his 'favorite in the world'.

“Now, Brazil, where is my CPF and my passport? Where are they now? I live in Brazil for a long time and now where is my passport and my CPF? I want to continue training and die in Brazil. Please, it is my favorite country in the world,” he said. Ian Gary.

The request was not unprecedented. In April, when he was announced as Prates' opponent, Garry joked on social media: “When I win, I want your CPF.”

In a five-round fight, Ian controlled the fight against Carlos and returned to the spotlight in the welterweight division (up to 77kg) in the organization. Although his opponent was the first Brazilian he had faced in the UFC, the Irishman had already built a close relationship with the country: he trains at the Chute Boxe Diego Lima gym, spent time in Minas Gerais and is married to Layla Machado, an Englishwoman with Brazilian ancestry.
