“Rivalry enriches the game. It’s been a while since we’ve had two Brazilian teams competing to see who’s the best. I’m excited and happy about this. I’ve been a fan of theirs for a long time and I’m honored to say that today we are rivals – perhaps the greatest rivalry in Brazilian MMA,” said the Fighting Nerds commander.

For Sucupira, the match goes beyond the sporting aspect. He believes that the dispute will bring structural benefits. The coach also highlighted the importance of legends and rumors to fuel public interest.

“It will elevate national MMA, bring more visibility, sponsorships and conditions for fighters. It is the revival of the golden age of Vale-Tudo. May stories be told – as long as the competition is fair and true,” added the coach.

The proximity between the academies – both based in São Paulo – and the philosophical differences accentuate the clash. While Chute Boxe maintains traditional methods, focusing on aggressiveness and ring experience, Fighting Nerds invests in data analysis and technical studies, a strategy that led it to the title of best MMA team in 2024.
