Daniel Cormier made history in the UFC. The former two-time champion and current commentator for the organization left his career in August 2020 with a bitter taste: that of two consecutive defeats in the trilogy with Stipe Miocic. In a recent interview, the Hall of Famer used Khabib Nurmagomedov and Georges St-Pierre as a reference to talk about something important for high-level athletes: knowing when to stop.

“Your mind will tell you. You know when it’s time. Not everyone has what Khabib had. Khabib literally won a fairytale. He and Georges St-Pierre managed to come out victorious. Not everyone has that,” he said. Daniel Cormier in an interview with the podcast 'WOLFpak'.
“Listen to what’s available — the signals, whatever’s going on in your mind. When you don’t enjoy training anymore, you’re probably done. When you don’t enjoy competition anymore or look forward to it anymore, you’re probably done,” said the former champion.
Cormier fought three times in 2018. He won Volkan oezdemir, Stipe Miocic e Derrick Lewis. The following year, he was knocked out in the rematch with Miocic. In 2020, the year of his retirement, he found himself defeated in the trilogy by a unanimous decision.
“Honestly, I didn’t need to fight that last fight against Stipe, the last two. I didn’t need to. I just wanted to fight and I wasn’t ready to give up,” revealed 'DC'.
