Alexandre pantoja is tired of hearing that he should promote his fights to get bigger rewards in the UFC. The flyweight champion (up to 56,7kg), who already swept the category, made a statement through a post on Instagram, where he criticized the culture of provocations in MMA and rejected the idea that disrespecting opponents is necessary to promote fights. The Brazilian defended his respectful stance throughout his career and recalled that he reached the top of the biggest MMA event in the world without resorting to insults or humiliations.
“Inverted values. Since I became UFC champion, one of the things I hear the most is that I should provoke my opponents more to sell the fights. I became champion of the biggest MMA event on the planet without disrespecting or humiliating anyone. Why would I start doing that now? I am respected by my colleagues and admired by a large number of people around the planet. And I didn’t need to attack anyone’s religion or even disdain any opponent’s technical ability to achieve all of this,” wrote Pantoja.

Pantoja criticized the lack of space in the mainstream media for athletes who follow a respectful conduct. According to the flyweight champion, there is an inversion of values in the emphasis given to controversial content, while stories like his are left aside. The fighter stated that, despite the frustration with the lack of recognition, he does not intend to change his stance and will remain firm in his principles.
“I said the other day that the mainstream media doesn’t give us space to tell our story, with the goal of inspiring so many children around the world who dream of being where I am today. But honestly, I don’t even know if I want to be in that place that gives rise to so much questionable content. Inverted values… I won’t change a single thing in my stance. I will continue to act as I have always done, whether in good times or bad. I love my sport, I love fighting and, even without the due recognition, I know that I inspire thousands of people around the world,” continued the flyweight champion.
In a motivational tone, the champion ended his outburst with a message of encouragement to fans and followers.
“Believe in yourself! Trust your intuition! And be a good person. In such a dirty world, the good ones will always stand out. And never change who you are to please someone. The world belongs to the persistent. Just keep going!” he concluded. alexander pantoja.
