A victory of Jack Della Maddalena against Belal Muhammad | completely changed the scenario of the welterweight category (up to 77,1 kg). With the strong possibility of the Australian defending the belt against Islam makhachev in his first commitment as champion, Sean brady targeted an interesting opponent to define the main challenger in the category: Ian Gary.

The challenge was made this Monday (12), in an interview on the program 'The Ariel Helwani Show'. Brady is ranked first in the division, and could drop after Tuesday's update (13). Thus, the American wasted no time and seems committed to seeking a duel with the Irishman.
“I would prefer him (Islam) to stay where he is and clean up the lightweight division. Being a double champion is cool, but two of his defenses were against Volk, and Ilia moved up. He did a lot, but is he going to stay in the division or come back? If he doesn’t, he’ll be fighting two divisions. If (Islam) is going to sweat, then Ian and I will fight. I know that’s the fight to be made. That’s how I see it,” said the fighter.

Duel between Brady and Garry would be very important for the category

One of the most popular names in the category, Garry is coming off a victory against Carlos Prates and even though he is ranked sixth in the category, he was chosen by the Ultimate as the official reserve for the belt dispute last Saturday (10). Thus, a duel with Brady would probably select the winner's opponent between Makhchev and Maddalena, since Shavkat Rakhmonov recovering from an injury.
