Light weight (up to 70,3kg.) Mauricio Ruffy has been one of the sensations of the UFC. Member of the Fighting Nerds team, which has names like Jean Silva, Caio Borralho e Carlos Prates, the Brazilian has been putting on jaw-dropping performances, such as the brutal knockout applied to King Green No. UFC 313, in March of this year.
Ruffy didn't want to be left out to give his opinion on one of the most notable twists in his division: the rise of lightweight champion Islam Mackachev to welterweight (up to 77kg) to face Jack Della Maddalena. The Australian won the division title after defeating Belal Muhammad |, who is a friend of the Russian, in UFC 315.

In an interview with journalist Laerte Viana's YouTube channel, Ruffy said he watched the fight between 'JDM' and Belal several times. The Brazilian believes the Australian is underestimated, but that he is more dangerous than he seems and gave his preference in a future confrontation against the 'bogeyman' Makhachev.
“I believe Maddalena will knock him out. I’ve seen this fight three times. Maddalena fought very well, very intelligently, taking the angle and anticipating Belal’s takedowns and imposing her own. He did exactly what I would do. Maybe I would land a few more counterattacks. The fact is that fighters are increasingly reading the ugly game of these Russians and falling less. A natural process in the evolution of MMA,” said Ruffy.
Speaking about the 'ugly game by the Russians', Ruffy recalled the controversial episode of the shirt worn by Khabib Nurmagomedov, who is Makhachev's mentor, when he visited Brazil in 2013, with a phrase poking fun at Brazilian jiu-jitsu. The São Paulo native said he has an idea to counter the provocation.

“Khabib made a t-shirt saying that if sambo was easy, it would be jiu-jitsu. I’m going to make another one. If I wanted to fight badly, I would train sambo,” joked Ruffy.
Mauricio Ruffy still doesn't know what it's like to lose in the UFC. He has three wins in three fights in the organization. The Brazilian doesn't have a fight scheduled, but the Polish Mateusz gamrot may have left the doors open for the confrontation.
