Apparently troubled, negotiations for a possible rematch between Magomed Ankalayev e Alex Poatán, for the UFC light heavyweight belt (up to 93 kg) have been stirring up the backstage of the organization. The current champion's manager, Ali Abdelaziz, spoke about the potential fight and the delay in confirmation.
In an interview with 'MMA Junkie', Abdelaziz was understanding of the alleged desire to Alex Poatán to rest for a few months, which would have prevented the Ultimate's plans to arrange a rematch for the UFC 317, in June.

“Listen, I think Alex deserves a break. I think the guy has fought hard, done a lot of things for the organization and deserves to be able to say no to stay healthy and focused. I respect the guy. But of course every time he fights Ankalaev, I want Ankalaev to beat him,” the manager said.
Despite recognizing the merits of Alex Poatán During his reign, Ali Abdelaziz does not believe that the Brazilian has the ability to get revenge and defeat the Russian in a possible rematch. In fact, the businessman believes that his client will win even more easily.
“I think Ankalaev, next time, will beat him worse. Everybody came into Alex with a lot of fear, but Ankalaev went in there and hurt him. He didn’t hurt Ankalaev. It’s going to be an interesting rematch. I don’t see this fight going more than three rounds. When you have that kind of confidence, and you go up against the scariest guys in the division and beat them, I think it’s going to be good. It’s a rematch that people are waiting for,” he concluded.
