Carlos Prates was dejected after his defeat to Ian Garry at UFC Kansas City , held in April of this year. In a video released on his YouTube channel, the Brazilian is told by the Irishman to "lift his head" and, downcast, responds with an insult. The moment drew attention on social media.
The post-fight scene, captured in the video posted by the Brazilian, reveals the fighter's physical and emotional exhaustion. With his shoulder resting on a teammate, Carlos Prates hears Ian Garry say, "Lift your head." The almost inaudible response was, "Go f*** yourself."

In the main event of UFC Kansas City , Ian Machado Garry controlled most of the fight with precise jabs, lateral movement, and strategic takedowns to win by unanimous decision. Carlos Prates had a good moment in the fifth round, almost knocking out his opponent, but couldn't avoid the unfavorable result.
On the other hand, Garry made himself available to be the official replacement for Belal Muhammad and Jack Della Maddalena at UFC 315. The Irishman even made weight, but the two fighters had no problems and competed, with the Australian winning. He, however, is likely to be overtaken in the title race by Islam Makhachev , who relinquished the lightweight title to move up a weight class.
