Even if you are still not sure about when or even against whom your next fight will be, Tom aspinall continues to prepare to return to action, with the expectation of facing Jon Jones for the unification of the linear and interim heavyweight belts (up to 120,2 kg). In this regard, the British fighter's mood seems to have changed positively compared to recent weeks.
After a few 'buckets of cold water' thrown by Jon Jones, in season in Thailand and apparently in no rush to make any kind of decision, Tom aspinall has shown rare optimism about facing the American. In the Netherlands for training sessions with kickboxing legend Rico Verhoeven, the Briton stated, in a video posted on his official YouTube channel, that he believes the unification fight will happen.

“I think so, I think we’ll get him (Jon Jones). He's an unpredictable guy. Everyone has a different idea of what I should do. Some say I should just leave him alone and he'll want to fight me. Others say the more shit I talk, the less he'll want to fight me. What's that? We should be professional fighters, fighting each other, that's what we do. At least I thought that's what we did," the Brit teased.
Jon Jones has been the heavyweight champion since March 2023, when he submitted Cyryl Gane No. UFC 285. Since then, the champion has defended the title on only one occasion, against Stipe Miocic, in November last year.
Meanwhile, Tom aspinall was crowned interim champion of the category with victory over Sergei Pavlovich in November 2023 and has already defended the title against Curtis blaydes, in July last year.
