The recent breakup of Ilia Topuria with Jorge and Agustin Climent, his long-time coaches, opened space for several names to express interest in helping the former featherweight champion (up to 65,7 kg) in preparing for the lightweight title fight (up to 70,3 kg), against Charles of the Bronx, in the main fight of the UFC 317, on June 28. Among them is boxing legend Roy Jones Jr.
Former four-division world champion in the noble art, Roy Jones Jr has dedicated his time to training new stars in the world of boxing, but believes he could greatly help Topuria to further sharpen his skills in stand-up fighting.

“I would make a big difference in the camp Ilia Topuria “For Charles Oliveira, because I teach how to get the most out of the striking, how to stay strong while you’re striking. In MMA, you always have to stay strong because guys can get your legs. What I teach would be advantageous to anyone who decides to dedicate themselves to this and understand what I really teach. Roy understands the mechanics of all fighting, not just boxing, all the arts. Roy understands the mechanics of MMA and he totally understands what is necessary and what is unnecessary to make you a better fighter,” said the boxer.
Ilia Topuria e Charles of the Bronx face each other for the lightweight belt (up to 70,3 kg), left vacant by Islam Makhachv, in the main fight of the UFC 317, a long-awaited event that closes International Fight Week on June 28, in Las Vegas, United States.
