The demonstrations take place amid a growing number of signatures on an online petition with the same purpose. The petition is available on the website 'Change.org', under the title 'Petition to withdraw from Jon Jones the undisputed UFC heavyweight belt'. As of press time, 141.894 people had signed the petition. Fans described Jones' longevity in the position as a problem, without having so many disputes.
"Jon Jones is now the longest-reigning champion in UFC heavyweight history and has only fought twice in that span. There is a clear interim champion, Tom aspinall, who defended his interim belt. Aspinall is ready to fight Jones. Jones refuses to fight him. Therefore, we as fans need to tell Dana White: it's time to take the heavyweight title away from him. Jon Jones. He clearly has no intention of fighting any time soon,” the applicants wrote.
