apparently, Khalil rountree was not content with the applause he received on the night he shared the octagon with Alex Poatán No. UFC 307. This is because the 'War Horse', who entered the fight as a big underdog and even managed to scare the Brazilian, ended up being brutally knocked out after being very close to victory.
In a press conference during the TUF anniversary celebration, Rountree revealed that, despite having been highly praised for his effort in the fight against Poatan, he is not proud of the result. His only consolation was having won the hearts of his fans, but that, for him, is not enough.

“The only pride I have in that fight is the ability to win the hearts of the fans. The fact that the fans saw my heart in the fight, and I got recognition for just going out there and giving it my all. But when I watch the fight, I have no pride. I only have corrections, because I didn’t come this far just to get there. I’m still devastated by that. My goal, my dream, my focus right now is the belt… Just putting on a good show for the fans is not enough for me. So I’m back in the game, focused and ready to be the champion,” Rountree said.
Rountree predicts exciting duel against Jamahal Hill
With his return scheduled, Khalil rountree said he was excited about the fight against Jamahal hill. The American believes it will be a great duel between two strikers and guarantees he is prepared, confident and motivated after learning from the mistakes of the defeat to Poatan.
“I think it’s a great main event for the fans to watch. You’ve got two great strikers going in there, and I’m ready. I’m happy that the UFC called me. I’ve been training hard, I learned from my mistakes in the Alex fight, and I’m back to work. I still have some scars, but they’re healed, they’re not going to open up again. I’m very confident and ready to share that with the fans,” concluded the ‘War Horse’.
Khalil rountree, who has nine wins and six losses in his career, will have the chance to bounce back from the loss to Alex Poatán when facing Jamahal hill No. UFC Baku, scheduled for June 21, in Azerbaijan.
