Undefeated in the UFC and eyeing the lightweight belt (up to 70,3 kg), Paddy Pimblett despite wanting to reach the throne, he shows that he is willing to be selective in the challenges he will propose to the Ultimate. As much as Arman Tsarukyan be the first in the ranking, the Englishman plans to face Justin gaethje in your next fight.
“I hope to fight in Abu Dhabi in October. I would love to fight against (Ilia Topuria) anyway, but it's crowded, so I think it's more than likely Justin gaethje. Nobody (cares) about Arman Tsarukyan and people really want to see Gaethje fight. People know it’s going to be an exciting fight, me versus Gaethje. Tsarukyan is just a tool, and then it’s me and Gaethje. With a win, I’ll be fighting for the belt,” Pimblett said in an interview with BBC Sport.

Ranked eighth in the lightweight rankings, Pimblett is coming off a violent knockout over Michael chandler in his last fight. Despite his desire to measure his strength against Gaethje, the Englishman will need to convince the former title challenger to accept putting third place on the line in a possible duel.
In recent reports, it was revealed that Gaethje was not happy with the choice of charles do brox to compete for the belt in UFC 317 and that his stance from this moment on would be to wait for the winner of the duel between Brazilian and Ilia Topuria, who will face each other for the linear title of the category.
