Greatest knockout artist in Ultimate history, Derrick Lewis expresses anxiety about stepping into the octagon again. Scheduled to star UFC Nashville against the Brazilian giant Tallison Xicão on July 12, the veteran revealed that he had to beg the officials to get this fight, due to the difficulty of finding opponents in the heavyweight division (up to 120,2 kg).
“It’s crazy that no one is fighting right now. I don’t know what’s going on with the heavyweights. I almost had to beg to get this fight, so I don’t know what’s going on. Hopefully we can stay active after this,” Lewis told MMAJunkie.

As he continued speaking, Derrick admitted that he had not watched any of Xicão's fights up until now, but assured that he had no problems with the Brazilian's height of 2 meters.
“I know he’s Brazilian and he’s a tall guy. He’s a heavyweight, so I’m sure he has knockout power. I haven’t watched any of his fights or anything like that, but my coach told me he has a lot of first-round knockouts (…) yeah, I feel comfortable. I like fighting tall guys. He lines up with my right hand. The way I throw my right hand lines up with it,” he concluded.

Currently ranked ninth, Lewis will have a tough task in defending his prestigious position against the category's prospect. In his last appearance, however, the American knocked out Rodrigo Zé Colmeia in the third round. The match against Xicão is scheduled for July 12.
