Jones makes fun of fans' pressure for a fight against Aspinall and stresses that he is not shaken by criticism or online campaigns

It seems, Jon Jones is not at all worried about the pressure from fans to accept the duel against Tom aspinall for the UFC heavyweight title (up to 120,2 kg). The champion, accused of avoiding the British, takes the discussion as a joke and is still grateful for the free publicity, while making a profit.

In a post on 'X' (formerly Twitter), Jon Jones celebrated a seminar he just held in Thailand, which, according to the champion, was attended by people who flew from the UK to honor him. Ironically, 'Bones' gave credit to Tom aspinall for all the times the British mentioned his name.

“Just wrapped up the biggest seminar in Phuket history. Half the audience was from the UK, how crazy is that?! Huge thanks to my man Tom for all the free publicity… couldn’t have done it without you. Seriously though, I’m incredibly grateful for this new UK audience. You guys showed up with so much love and energy and I felt it all…” Jones wrote.

Meanwhile, a online petition was created asking the UFC to remove the belt from Jon Jones, which would allow the division to move forward without him. Jones, however, took the news in stride and stated that he hopes the petition will receive even more signatures soon.

“Let’s keep this momentum going, don’t forget to sign the petition today, we’re already reaching 200k! How exciting.”, he wrote Jon Jones.

Jon Jones won the vacant belt by submitting Cyryl Gane No. UFC 285, in March 2023. Since then, he has defended the title only once, in UFC 309, in November 2024, when he won Stipe Miocic.

Meanwhile, Tom aspinall won the interim belt by knocking out Sergei Pavlovich and defended him against Curtis blaydes. Since then, he has been waiting for his chance to unify the title with Jones' linear belt.
