There is no doubt that Caio Borralho Borralho is emerging as the great Brazilian hope to win the middleweight belt (up to 83,9 kg) in the UFC. A representative of Fighting Nerds, he has beaten all seven opponents he has faced in the organization and currently occupies the sixth position in the division ranking. However, it was in his most recent fight that Borralho realized that he was, in fact, among the elite of the sport.
Participating in the 'Connect Cast' podcast, the athlete praised the intelligence and resistance of Jared Cannonier. According to Borralho, the American not only identified his tactical traps, something rare among his opponents, but also demonstrated the ability to absorb blows. The Brazilian recalled the moment when he applied elbows in ground-and-pound and, even injured, Cannonier maintained firm eye contact, an attitude that made him retreat, aware of the danger that his rival still represented.

“I felt this a lot with Cannonier. He knew what an animal he was… He noticed all my traps. I do this all the time and nobody notices, but he read it and not only read it, but he used it to behave differently in the fight. But what scared me the most about him was when I was doing ground and pound, I was elbowing him, I hit him about 12 times. He almost died on one, two… he fell, then woke up. Usually, when you’re getting elbowed, you turn to the side. But I was elbowing him in the face, and he looked me in the eye. I said: ‘That’s not possible. I’m going to stop here, because if he gets up, he’ll kill me.’ That’s when I saw the high level of this fight,” he said. Caio Borralho.
Signed through the Contender Series, Caio Borralho debuted in the UFC in April 2022 and, since then, has remained undefeated in the organization with seven victories, the most recent being a Domain about Jared Cannonier. The Brazilian has not entered the octagon since August 2024.
