UFC 316: Merab Dvalishvili and Sean O'Malley make weight and confirm rematch for the belt

Julianna Peña and Kayla Harrison also confirmed a title fight in the co-main event of UFC 316

The two title fights UFC 316 are confirmed. On the morning of this Friday (6), the 26 athletes scheduled for the event that takes place this Saturday (7), went through the challenge against the scale and confirmed the 13 fights of the event that takes place this Saturday (7), in Newark, New Jersey, in the United States.

Former champion and current challenger for the bantamweight belt (up to 61,2 kg), Sean O'Malley was the first to weigh in and weighed in at 61,2 kg for the category. Soon after came the champion Merab Dvalishvili, who, without any scares, was below the division limit, weighing 60,7 kg.

Next came the two protagonists of the other title fight on the card. In the women's bantamweight division, the champion Julianna Pena and the challenger Kayla harrison scored the exact same 61,2 kg.

Brazilian is above the category limit

Of the four Brazilians selected for the UFC 316, three made weight without any major problems: Vincent Luque, Bruno Bulldoguinho e Brendson Ribeiro. The only occurrence was in the flyweight category (up to 56,7 kg) Ariane da Silva, who weighed 59,8 kg, around 2,8 kg above the category limit, already taking into account the pound tolerance valid for fights that do not have a belt at stake.

PUBLICITY:

As of this writing, the UFC has yet to announce what measures will be taken in relation to Ariane's failure on the scale. The Brazilian may reach an agreement with her opponent. Cong Wang and give up a percentage of his purse to continue with the event, but he even runs the risk of having the fight cancelled.
