Brendson Ribeiro was defeated by the Russian Azamat Murzakanov still in the first round, in the penultimate fight of the preliminary card of UFC 316. The result broke the Brazilian's two-game winning streak in the organization since the end of last year, while his opponent extended his unbeaten run as a professional and reached the mark of 15 wins and no losses.

Brendson could not resist the power of his opponent
The fight started at a slow pace. While Brendson moved laterally and worked from a long distance, with jabs and high kicks, Murzakanov was more incisive and dominated the center of the octagon. The fight ended up becoming more open after the halfway point of the round, especially after the Brazilian adopted a more aggressive stance.
At this point, Brendson was hit by two powerful left punches to the head. The second, which landed on the forehead, left the fighter from Pará clearly stunned and took him to the ground. Despite trying to resist the Russian's strong blows, referee Mike Beltran stopped the fight at three minutes and 25 seconds into the first round.
He remains undefeated in his career!

Protagonist of a tight duel against Sergei Spivac in the UFC 316, Waldo Cortes-Acosta managed to impress the judges and secure yet another victory in the organization. Even under boos from the audience, the prospect celebrated the biggest victory of his career and expressed confidence in the race towards the title.
With great success in defending takedowns, Waldo prevented the veteran from using his best weapon in grappling. With low kicks and precise boxing, Cortes-Acosta achieved his fifth consecutive victory and now hopes to get closer to the top 5 in the ranking update that will take place this Tuesday (10).
On the other hand, Spivac suffered his second consecutive defeat and could lose his seventh-place position in the heavyweight division. Confident that he had won the duel, the 'Polar Bear' expressed great disappointment with the decision of the judges.

Signed via Contender Series and underdog for UFC 316, Andreas Gustafsson had a gala debut at the grand event held in Newark (USA). Chosen at the last minute to face Khaos Williams, the Swede mixed an aggressive style with dominance on the grid and secured a crucial triumph via unanimous decision from the judges.
At 34 years old, the welterweight prospect (up to 77,1 kg) started his career in the category on the right foot and secured 12 victories in his professional career. Even amid boos while holding Khaos against the fence, the fighter stuck to his strategy and avoided major risks against the veteran knockout artist.
On the other hand, Williams wasted the opportunity to return to winning ways and now has two consecutive losses in the UFC. His last triumph came in May 2024, when he defeated his opponent with a frightening knockout in the first round of the fight.
