Poatan justifies his absence with a focus on physical recovery and the start of new preparations for his return to the octagon

Since it was defeated by Magomed Ankalayev No. UFC 313, by unanimous decision of the judges, Alex Poatán has been accused of refusing a rematch with the Russian. However, the reason behind the Brazilian's withdrawal is more serious than it seems.

In an interview during the broadcast of UFC 316, Poatan explained that he took some time off to rest, travel and recover from some injuries. The Pataxó also revealed that he will go to Brazil in the next few days to resolve personal issues and begin a new phase of physical preparation, with the goal of returning even stronger to the octagon.

“I took some time off to rest and travel. I’m recovering my body from some injuries. I’m going to Brazil to sort out some things and start preparing, take care of my body and come back strong and sound,” said the Brazilian.

Alex Poatán still awaiting the definition of a date for the long-awaited rematch against Magomed Ankalayev. According to the Brazilian, the duel should take place between September and November.
