Defeated in his rematch against Merab Dvalishvili, Sean O'Malley will not have an easy life to have at least the opportunity to fight for the belt again. The strong opinion was given by Daniel Cormier, who showed pessimism about the global star's continuation in his trajectory in the bantamweight division (up to 61,2 kg) starting from his next appearance in the octagon.
“He just lost twice to the champion. Until there is a change, it will be difficult for O’Malley to return for a title opportunity and he should find the path that Umar Nurmagomedov in front of you. It won't be easy for Sean O'Malley”, Cormier said in an interview with ESPN.

Despite the major change made in preparation for UFC 316, O'Malley was once again unsuccessful in facing the Georgian. Having difficulty defending takedowns, the American ended up tapping out after being caught in a triangle choke applied by the champion. On the first occasion, 'Sugar' was defeated by the judges' decision.
Even amidst all the drama, Sean has already spoken out on his social media and avoided any excuses about the episode. Determined to return to the path of victory, 'Sugar' expressed confidence in a message sent to his fans. This was the third time the athlete has been defeated in his professional career.
