Soon after winning the bantamweight belt (up to 61,2 kg) at UFC 316, Kayla harrison already had your next appointment aligned. The new champion will share the octagon with Amanda nunes, who will return to action after two years of retirement, to challenge her former American Top Team teammate. However, Marcos Parrumpinha, one of the team's main coaches, has doubts about the Lioness' real motivation.

“The reason she’s coming back, in my opinion, is ego. I don’t believe she has a money problem. I think it’s more a question of ego, of wanting to beat someone from American Top Team, because she was from American Top Team, they had the same coaches… I believe it’s to prove that she was better and, in my opinion, that’s ego,” said Marcos Parrumpinha.

Despite the motivations of Amanda nunes, Marcos Parrumpinha evaluates the fight positively and believes it will be a great attraction for the public. The coach is betting on the strong commercial appeal of the fight and sees it as an opportunity to further boost the growth of women's MMA.

“But that’s okay. I think it’s a fight that will sell a lot, it’s a very good fight, everyone will want to watch it, including me. They can still help women’s MMA a lot. And that’s it,” concluded the coach.

Inactive since June 2023, Amanda nunes said goodbye to the sport after a dominant victory over Irene aldana, in which he successfully defended his belt. Already Kayla harrison, at 34 years old, made her UFC debut in April 2024 and impressed with three consecutive victories, two of them by submission.
