Former bantamweight champion (up to 61,2 kg) and currently ranked ninth in the featherweight rankings (up to 65,7 kg). aljamain sterling didn't think twice when talking about what he thinks about a possible duel against Jean Silva next. In a sincere stance, 'Funk Master' preferred to postpone a possible meeting with the representative of Fighting Nerds.
“I can fight with Jean Silva, but honestly, I don't want that kind of trouble right now,” Sterling said in an interview with Ariel Helwani.

Known for his grappling skills, Sterling is coming off a controversial loss to Movsar Evloev, where he was defeated by the judges' decision. Since then, the fighter has not returned to the octagon and has avoided giving names about who he wants to face next. His last triumph occurred in April 2024, when he debuted in the new division defeated Calvin kattar.

Like Sterling, Jean also admits that the American can be a difficult style to face. In an exclusive interview with SUPER FIGHTS, in February of this year, the Brazilian highlighted the great skill of the former champion.
“I don’t see anyone there to go head to head with me. In fact, one guy I like, who I think is awesome and talk to when I’m in Vegas, is aljamain sterling. For me, he's the hottest guy. He just doesn't believe it, but in my opinion he's the hottest guy in the category. You can say he's a wimp, but the level of wrestling, grappling. These guys pose a risk to me that I have to deal with a lot,” he said.
