Former UFC champion and Hall of Famer, B.J. Penn, was arrested for the fourth time in less than fifteen days. The incident occurred last Thursday (12), after violating a temporary restraining order that prevented him from approaching a residence involved in legal proceedings. The information was released by 'MMA Fighting'.

Hilo police located the fighter near the protected address, culminating in his arrest without resistance. Released after posting bail of US$ 3 thousand (around R$ 16,6 thousand), Penn awaits a new hearing scheduled for this Friday (13).

The situation of the 46-year-old Hawaiian man escalated rapidly. The restrictive measures were imposed after two previous arrests for 'abuse of a family member'. A third arrest was made due to his absence from a mandatory hearing, which constituted a violation of the conditions of his provisional release.

Lorraine Shin, the athlete's mother, requested judicial protection alleging 'extreme psychological abuse'. In her testimony, she reported suspicions that her son suffers from 'Capgras Syndrome' - a rare disorder that makes the patient believe that people close to them have been replaced by identical impostors.

Considered one of the biggest names in the history of MMA, B.J. Penn has a legacy marked by achievements: he was the UFC lightweight and welterweight champion, with three defenses of the lightweight belt. His induction into the Hall of Fame in 2015, in the modern wing, recognized his influence in the pre-unified rules era.

In recent years, however, public episodes of aggression, fights and accusations of paranoid behavior have tarnished his image. Videos posted on his social media accused family members and public figures of being 'infiltrated agents' trying to control his inheritance.
