The third edition of the Dirty Boxing Championship (or “Boxe Sujo”, in Portuguese) featured former UFC heavyweight, Jairzinho Rozenstruik, as the main attraction. However, the one who shone was the Brazilian Francisco Trinaldo, also known as massaranduba, who defeated his opponent in less than a minute of fighting.

After a long career in the UFC and a passage through MMA without gloves, Francisco Massaranduba returned to action to, once again, show that he was born to beat up another guy. At 46 years old, the veteran stepped into the ring to test himself in a new sport and, 33 seconds into the fight, he was declared the winner after landing a series of elbows that opened a large cut on the forehead of his opponent, boxer Eric Moon (watch below).

What is 'Dirty Boxing'?

In the rules of the organization, designed by Mike Perry, athletes use 5oz open gloves (one ounce larger than MMA gloves). Only strikes with fists, palms and elbows are allowed. In addition, clinch attacks and ground and pound (strikes with the opponent down) are valid, but takedowns and submissions are not allowed.

The ring is small in size, encouraging open contact at all times. The first Dirty Boxing event took place in November of last year, with doors open only to invited guests – among them the UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones.
