After six years away from lightweight (up to 70,3kg.) Edson Barboza is back in the category where he shone for many years during his career in the Ultimate. At 39 years old, the fighter gave up his dream of becoming featherweight champion (up to 65,7kg) and is now preparing to face Drakkar Klose, at UFC 319, on August 16. The information was revealed by journalist Laerte Viana and confirmed by SUPER FIGHTS.

In an attempt to return to winning ways, Edson has expressed his thirst for fighting on his social media. Having recovered from a recent injury, the athlete is already considered a slight favorite by bookmakers for the duel against the American. Known for his specialty in stand-up fighting, the fighter from Friburgo currently has 13 knockout victories in his career.

Living in a similar situation, Klose was also defeated in his last appearance, when his four-game winning streak was interrupted by Joel alvarez. With a renewed contract, the organization veteran is preparing for his 13th appearance in the octagon. Barboza is the second Brazilian that Drakkar has faced in MMA.
