Jiri Prochazka responds to provocations and reveals negotiations to face Ankalaev for the UFC belt

Former champion explains priority in studies, talks about possible return dates and confirms focus on fighting for the light heavyweight title

Jiri Prochazka may be close to returning to the UFC octagon and already has a target set. The Czech samurai, who turned down the fight in UFC 317 to complete your studies, now has a return forecast and makes it clear that Magomed Ankalayev and the light heavyweight belt (up to 93kg) are in his sights.

In an interview with 'Full Violence', Prochazka revealed that he should return between August and October. The Czech explained that his manager is negotiating a fight against Ankalaev, but is still waiting for the definition if Alex Poatán will face the Russian or if he himself will be the opponent.

“August, October, around there. Because he keeps talking about Pereira… will he fight him? My manager is trying to negotiate this fight with Ankalaev. Let’s see if Pereira will fight him, or if I will fight him, or someone else. I’m focused on Ankalaev,” revealed Prochazka.

Prochazka was quite provoked by Magomed Ankalayev after refusing to share the octagon in UFC 317. Jiri explained that he prioritized his studies, since he is finishing a master's degree that he has been studying for three years. The Czech said that he does not mind the Russian's provocations, because, according to him, Ankalaev does not behave like a true champion.

After losing his undefeated UFC record to Alex Poatán, Jiri Prochazka returned to the octagon and won Aleksandar rakic. However, in a rematch against the Brazilian, he suffered a new defeat and was temporarily removed from the fight for the belt. He then faced Jamahal hill and, with a convincing victory, his name was once again debated in the race for the title.
