Increasingly dominant in the flyweight division (up to 56,7kg), Alexandre pantoja The time has come to decide what his career priorities will be. Despite the large number of requests for him to move up to bantamweight (up to 61,2 kg) and try for a second belt, the Brazilian highlighted the importance of the sequence of defenses to be made in the category.

“I don’t know what’s more important. Getting a second belt or having 10 title defenses. For me, what I’m thinking about right now is having 10 title defenses. Of course, moving up a weight class and winning the belt is great, but I have a very tough division to fight in. Very good opponents, guys from all over the world. In my last fight, I fought guys from four different countries. Now I have another different guy from New Zealand,” Pantoja told MMA Junkie.

Finally, the Brazilian demonstrated affection and protection for the category that currently reigns.

“This proves that the flyweight division has more different fighters from all over the world. The UFC is a worldwide organization… That’s something special that I have in my division. I want to keep that. I want to protect the division and make it huge,” he concluded.
