Still linear heavyweight champion (up to 120,2 kg) despite all the statements made about his lack of interest in fighting again, Jon Jones seems to have completely irritated his old rival Daniel Cormier. In addition to not performing, 'Bones' has been holding back the category and preventing Tom aspinall have the freedom to defend the interim title or even remain active while waiting for the division to unfold.
A veteran of the sport and close to the organization's leaders, Daniel Cormier lost patience with the whole situation involving Jones and came out publicly to request that the belt be taken away from his compatriot. In a serious tone, the commentator sympathized with the anguish experienced by Aspinall and sent a message to Dana White.

“It’s time to remove him. He doesn’t want to fight Tom. It doesn’t even look like he’s going to fight again. It’s time to take his belt back and move on, hoping that the desire he talks about returns. If he does, he should face Aspinall and not give him any other choice (of opponent),” Cormier said on his YouTube channel.

Inactive since victory over Stipe Miocic In December 2024, Jones has repeatedly stated that he will not face Aspinall, despite Dana expressing confidence that the fight will take place soon. In one of his statements, the linear champion stated that the organization already knows about his plans and questioned why they have not revealed it publicly yet.
