It's the end of the season for soap operas at the Ultimate. Days after defining the future of the heavyweights with Jon Jones's retirement, the organization finally defined the next step Caio Borralho in the middleweights (up to 83,9 kg). The Brazilian had his request granted and will face Nassourdine Imavov in the main fight of UFC Paris, scheduled for September 6. The information was confirmed through UFC's social media.

Caio Borralho is the highest ranked Brazilian in the UFC middleweight division, occupying sixth place. The 32-year-old from Maranhão is undefeated in the organization, with an impressive seven wins in seven fights, the last of which was over the former title challenger Jared Cannonier, in August last year.

With Caio Borralho e Nassourdine Imavov in the main fight, the UFC Paris takes place on September 6th, at the Accor Arena, in the French capital. The event has not yet had any other fights confirmed.

Caio Borralho's provocations had an effect

Caio Borralho spent the last few months campaigning for a fight against Nassourdine Imavov, publicly challenging his rival on multiple occasions. The Frenchman, however, seemed more interested in serving as a reserve for the division's title fight, between Dricus du Plessis e Khamzat Shimaev, at UFC 319, in August, but changed his mind and agreed to star in the third edition of the UFC in the French capital.

Last Tuesday (17), Imavov publicly stated his decision not to serve as a reserve for the title fight and took a jab at Caio Borralho, stating that he was willing to talk and ready to 'break the Brazilian'.

PUBLICITY:

“I’m not going to be a reserve anymore. Conditions have changed. You wanted to say, son, I’m here, I’m going to break you, Caio Borralho”, wrote the Frenchman on social media.

The Brazilian's response was in an even louder tone.

PUBLICITY:

“You finally stopped hiding, huh? You don’t decide anything, you do what you’re told to do. You’ve tried to avoid this fight for so long and EVERYONE knows it. Now, you’re going to do what you’re told: face me! I make the rules here. Say goodbye to France, I’m sending you back to Dagestan,” he replied.
