Undefeated in MMA and protagonist of devastating victories in performances in the octagon, Ilia Topuria does not conform to his current state and often seeks to evolve. Praised by many fighters who witness his training and achievements when the cameras are off, the athlete is preparing for another great show in UFC 317, where it faces Charles of the Bronx this Saturday (28).
Training partner of the Spanish-Georgian, Jorge masvidal did not hesitate to comment on Topuria's chances in the fight for the lightweight belt (up to 70,3 kg). “I’ve been training with him for five, six years. Ilia is one in 10. I’ve trained with everyone, you name it. This guy is special. He’s going to beat Charles. Charles is bigger, he has knees, kicks, elbows, great jiu-jitsu, good wrestling. Charles is good at everything. But Ilia is different,” Masvidal said in an interview with Red Corner MMA.
Back at lightweight after a brief stint in the past, Topuria guarantees he is at full power and does not mince words when promising a resounding victory over his rival. The big favorite with the bookmakers, the Spanish-Georgian knocked out Max Holloway e Alexander Volkanovsky in his latest appearances and indicates that he will do the same with Charles.
Heading into another title fight, Topuria is hoping to win a second belt, in a different category, in the Ultimate. In addition to pursuing this dream, the athlete has not ruled out moving up to welterweight (up to 77,1 kg) to face Islam makhachev, if the Russian becomes the king of the division. The duel against Do Bronx takes place this Saturday (28) at UFC 317.
