The UFC announced that Diego lopes e Jean Silva star in the main fight of the Night UFC, an event celebrating Mexican Independence Day, on September 13 in San Antonio, Texas. The confirmation was made by Dana White through his official Instagram.
Diego lopes seeks redemption after losing unanimous decision to Alexander Volkanovsky for the vacant featherweight belt (up to 65,7 kg) in UFC 314, in April, interrupting a streak of five consecutive victories. In his career, the fighter has 27 triumphs and three defeats. He also represents the colors of Mexico.

Diego Lopes vs Jean Silva face off after Yair Rodriguez's 'departure'
The fight came about after a controversy involving Yair Rodriguez. Diego lopes revealed that he accepted three offers from the UFC after the loss to Volkanovski: Aaron Pico, Jean Silva and himself Yair Rodriguez, the latter to be the main event of the Night UFC originally planned for Mexico.
Yair, however, refused the fight, claiming he needed surgery after injuries and visa problems for the United States, since the event had changed venues and is now taking place in Texas. The Mexican is the main candidate to face the champion. Alexander Volkanovsky for the division belt.
Jean Silva, in turn, had already publicly expressed his desire to face his compatriot, in search of a victory that would put him in the fight for the belt.
Change of plans: from Mexico to Texas
O Night UFC went through logistical twists and turns. The event was originally planned to be held in Guadalajara, Mexico, possibly as a pay-per-view (PPV). Construction delays at the Guadalajara Arena, however, forced the cancellation of the event there.
In addition, the boxing match between Canelo Álvarez and Terence Crawford is also scheduled for September 13, which led the UFC to make a decision: to relocate the event to San Antonio, Texas, home to around 9 million Mexicans in the North American country.
