It's official now! After months of provocative exchanges, Jean Silva will finally have the chance to share the octagon with Diego lopes in the Ultimate. That's because Dana White announced, last Tuesday (24), that the Brazilians will have the main fight of the UFC Night, an event celebrating Mexico's independence, scheduled for September 13, in San Antonio, Texas.
In a video posted on Instagram, Renato Moicano expressed surprise at the speed with which the fight was announced. In the Brasilia native's view, Jean would still face other opponents before reaching that level. However, he considered the confrontation positive for the Fighting Nerds representative and projected that, with a victory, Jean will fight for the belt and could win Alexander Volkanovsky.

“I didn’t think this fight would happen so soon. I thought the Jean Silva I would have to do other fights until I faced number two. But for me, it's a good fight for the Jean Silva. I believe in the favoritism of Jean Silva. It will be difficult for the Diego lopes knock him down. The Diego lopes is better at Jiu-Jitsu, but he doesn't have such good takedowns. And my brother, after that, the Jean Silva will fight for the title. And I'll tell you: there's a good chance that Jean Silva beat Volkanovski.”, he said Renato Moicano.

Jean Silva, in turn, is going through a great phase in the organization. With five consecutive victories, four by knockout and one by submission, the Brazilian is coming off a dominant performance against Bryce mitchell, also in the UFC 314.

“Let it rain money, because on the 13th, Noche’s main fight, but don’t worry… I’m going to break him, I’m going to give him a sloppy eater. I’m keeping quiet, I’m keeping quiet, I posted that I was coming to Vegas to resolve it, didn’t I say? I resolved it and now I have one thing to say: I’m going to break him.” Diego lopes, let's go”, declared Jean.

The main fight of UFC Night, initially, it would be between Yair Rodríguez and Diego lopes. The Mexican even got involved in a heated argument with the Brazilian during the press conference UFC 314, increasing expectations for the confrontation.
However, despite the established rivalry, Yair refused the fight, claiming the need for surgery due to injuries, in addition to problems with a visa for the United States, as the event changed venue and will now be held in Texas.
In this way, as Jean Silva had already publicly expressed the desire to face Diego lopes, Dana White went ahead and made the duel between the Brazilians official.
UFC Noche changes location and will be held in Texas
O UFC Night went through logistical twists and turns. The event was initially scheduled to be held in Guadalajara, Mexico, possibly as a pay-per-view (PPV). However, construction delays at the Guadalajara Arena forced the cancellation there.
Furthermore, the confirmation of the boxing superfight between Canelo Álvarez and Terence Crawford for the same day, September 13, influenced the UFC's decision to move the event to San Antonio, Texas, home to around 9 million Mexicans in the United States.
