Renato Moicano can't resist the pressure and is defeated at UFC 317

Renato Moicano could not resist the grappling game and ended up being overcome by Beneil Dariush in the unanimous decision of the judges, in a duel valid for the lightweight category (up to 70,3 kg) of the main card at UFC 317. The Brazilian now has two consecutive failures along with the defeat suffered against Islam makhachev at the beginning of the year.

Grappling changed the course of the fight

The Brazilian dominated the center of the octagon from the beginning of the fight. While Moicano tried to establish distance with feints and straight punches, Dariush took the lead with strong kicks to the legs and waistline. Money succeeded in the final seconds of the round when he connected with a perfect straight punch, which knocked his opponent down and almost sealed the deal at that moment.  

Dariush returned much more aggressive for the second round of the duel. After suffering in the stand-up fight, he changed his strategy and started investing in several takedowns. The American-Assyrian spent the last minutes of the round controlling Moicano from above, exhausting his opponent's breath and recovering in the fight.

With the fight tied, both returned with the notion that the last round would decide the outcome. In this scenario, Dariush remained resilient and with strong physical imposition managed to control the Brazilian by landing good punches and kicks while standing, in addition to working well on isometrics in the clinch.

At the end of the 15 minutes, all judges scored it 29 to 28 for Beneil Dariush, winner by unanimous decision of the judges.
