Brazilian MMA fans are living days of mourning after the UFC 317. This because Ilia Topuria didn't give a chance to Charles of the Bronx and brutally knocked out the former champion in the first round. However, if it depends on Maurício Ruffy, the feeling left by the Spaniard is numbered.

Through a post on 'X' (formerly Twitter), the 'Nerd' sent a direct message to Ilia Topuria, acknowledging that his rival is going through a good phase, but making it clear that this has an expiration date. In a defiant tone, Ruffy stated that he intends to knock out the champion and end this moment in the spotlight.

“Enjoy this moment Topuria… I’ll definitely put you to sleep!” wrote Ruffy.

Topuria's belt fight has fierce competition

Despite Mauricio Ruffy's desire to face Ilia Topuria, the Brazilian still has a long way to go before he can fight for the belt. That's because there's a real line of challengers ahead, starting with Paddy Pimblett. Even though he is only seventh in the featherweight rankings, the British fighter was chosen by the champion himself for a face-off in the octagon. UFC 317.

In addition to Pimblett, other names await a chance at the title, such as Arman Tsarukyan, who was scheduled as a substitute for the duel between Topuria and Charles of the Bronx, and Justin gaethje, who has already had two opportunities to fight for the belt, but was defeated on both occasions.
