Determined to return to the path of victory, Gregory Robocop showed great evolution in its presentation in UFC 317. Strategic, but still violent, the Brazilian knew how to pace himself and at the end of the first round he landed a violent hand on Jack hermansson, immediately taking the rival to the ground, with no chance of defense (watch below).
Far from the scene, Herb Dean, the referee scheduled for the fight, was unable to arrive in time to stop Robocop from throwing another punch at his rival, who was already knocked out in the octagon. The moment created tension due to the delay the Swede had in recovering amid immediate medical care. After a few minutes, however, the veteran was taken to the hospital, where he was released after a series of tests.

Despite the positive outcome for Hermansson, Robocop became the target of harsh criticism due to the blow deemed by many as 'unnecessary'. When asked about how he would react, the Brazilian did not hesitate in declaring that he does not care what the spectators of his fight say.

“First of all, I don’t care what people think. When you step into the cage, we sign the contract, we can do anything. If it was on the other side, and he did the same, why would I be mad at him? He did his job. I hope he’s okay. He’s a warrior like me. But I’m not going to stop until the referee says stop. I just did my job. That’s what I do. That’s what he does. It is what it is. It was my night,” Robocop said at the post-fight press conference. UFC 317.
At the end of the event, Robocop was awarded a performance bonus for the night and pocketed an additional $50, around R$270 at the current exchange rate, due to the great knockout he performed in the UFC 317.
