Slight favorite at bookmakers for the UFC 317, Renato Moicano ended up wasting the opportunity to return to the path of victory after being overcome by Beneil Dariush. At 36 years old, the fighter from Brasília has accumulated two consecutive defeats and in an update carried out this Tuesday (1) the veteran now occupies 12th place in the lightweight ranking.
In a duel that lasted 15 minutes, Moicano was the one who had the best opportunity to reach a quick conclusion. In the first round, the Brazilian landed a hard blow that took Dariush to the ground, but the Iranian managed to recover and won the remaining two rounds of the fight.

During a live broadcast on Monday (30), Renato surprised his fans by stating that he did not knock out his rival because he did not want to. At the end of his speech, the athlete admits that the strategy failed due to unexpected fatigue.
“Do you know why I didn’t knock Dariush out? Because I didn’t want to. Deal with it however you want. I didn’t want to, I didn’t want to. I threw the right punch, he fell, I swear to you that I thought the following: I’m going to wait to go in the next round. So, okay, what happened? After the first round I got tired. I didn’t expect that”, declared Moicano on his YouTube channel.
The reaction on social media was immediate. Many internet users saw the statement as a sarcastic way of dealing with the defeat, while others expressed outrage at the Brazilian's attitude.
