The main Brazilian promise in the lightweight division (up to 70,3 kg) and considered by some as a future threat to the reign of Ilia Topuria in the category, Mauricio Ruffy is close to announcing his next UFC fight.
In a recent interview with 'Ag Fight', the 'Fighting Nerds' student sent a message to fans and promised a big announcement 'in the next few days'.

“Guys, just wait a little longer. In the next few days, there will be some news that will make you go crazy. For those who follow Luffy and root for me to be champion, there is some great news coming for you. It will be a very good fight and you won’t miss out by waiting,” promised the fighter.
Mauricio Ruffy promised to 'erase' Ilia Topuria
Even though he is outside the top 15 in the lightweight division at the moment, Mauricio Ruffy did not miss the opportunity to take a swipe at the new champion, crowned with a brutal knockout over Charles of the Bronx in the main fight of UFC 317, held last Saturday (28).
Days after Topuria's conquest, Ruffy used social media to tease the Spanish-Georgian.
“Enjoy this moment Topuria… I’ll definitely put you to sleep!” wrote Ruffy.

At 29, Mauricio Ruffy is not considered one of the greatest promises of the lightweight world for nothing. The Fighting Nerds pupil has a professional record of 12 wins and a single loss, suffered more than five years ago, against Manoel Sousa, at the SFT, in 2019.
Since then, Ruffy has won three fights on the national scene, secured a contract with the UFC with a knockout over Raimond Magomedaliev in the Contender Series, in 2023 and has already won three victories in the organization, all in numbered events and the last of them with a spectacular knockout against the veteran King Green, at UFC 313, in March.
