The hard knockout suffered by Charles of the Bronx in a title fight against Ilia Topuria in the main fight of UFC 317, last Saturday (12), heated up the debate about the direction of the former champion's career, who turns 36 in October. Another Brazilian veteran, Gilbert Durinho gave his opinion on the matter.

In a recent edition of the 'Show Me the Money' podcast, the former welterweight title challenger (up to 77,1 kg) spoke about the subject and suggested that Charles of the Bronx rest for a few months and face it Max Holloway for the UFC BMF belt between late 2025 and early 2026.

“I think Charles needs to take about six months off. He needs to call Sean Shelby and tell him I told him to take it on.” Max Holloway. After the fight of the Max Holloway against Dustin (Poirier), Dustin will retire. Max, rest a little, because you will fight in December or January. Make a BMF belt fight for Charles”, suggested Durinho.

Durinho sees Charles do Bronx as favorite in possible duel with Max Holloway

Still on the subject, Gilbert Durinho defined favoritism for Charles of the Bronx in a possible duel against Max Holloway for the BMF belt and said he doesn't believe either of the two legends will have time to star in another race for a linear belt in the organization.

“I think Charles beats Holloway. I like this fight between two legends. I don’t think either of them can get another run at the belt, but they could face each other for the BMF and it would be a great fight,” he concluded.
