One of the most likely names to become the welterweight champion (up to 77,1 kg.) until last year, Shavkat Rakhmonov is in a very different situation in 2025. Despite being undefeated in 19 fights, with only one of them in the final, the athlete has been away from the octagon for more than seven months due to an injury, while other challengers have grown in the category. Even in this adverse scenario, he does not seem interested in returning against someone other than the belt holder.

In an interview with 'Ulysmedia' last Monday (7), the Kazakh ruled out the possibility of having another fight between challengers, but stressed that the decision for the next step will be taken after the duel between Islam makhachev e Jack Della Maddalena, with no date yet set for this to occur.
“The situation is difficult, I’m waiting to see who will fight for the title. Maybe we’ll go straight to the title fight, still next year… I’m waiting. I don’t want to waste my energy on intermediate fights,” he said.

At just 30 years old, Shavkat Rakhmonov comes from victory against Ian Gary in December of last year, by unanimous decision. He currently occupies the third position in the category ranking and has never faced Sean brady e Belal Muhammad |, the two names in front. Furthermore, he also did not measure forces with Jack Della Maddalena, the new champion of the category.
