Protagonists of UFC Nashville, Derrick Lewis e Tallison Teixeira did not need to wait for the ceremonial weigh-in to face off before the clash this Saturday (12). Immediately after officially checking their weights on the scale, all the athletes were invited to stand face to face before measuring their strength in the octagon (watch below).
The bookmakers' favorite, Xicão wasn't intimidated by the former title challenger and seized the moment to try to destabilize his rival. Taller than his opponent, the Brazilian lowered his head, forcing the American to make eye contact after avoiding his chin. With smiles, the Brazilian succeeded in his strategy, and Lewis was forced to look him in the eye. Despite the tense moment, both athletes maintained respect and didn't touch each other during the staredown.

At 25, Tallison is preparing to headline his first UFC event. With just one fight in the organization, the Brazilian prospect could become a top 10 contender in the heavyweight division (up to 120,2 kg) if he lives up to his favoritism and defeats the veteran this Saturday. So far, Teixeira hasn't even experienced the first round. He has eight victories, all by quick means.
Lewis, who holds the record for most knockout victories, relies on his experience to try to curb the prodigy's momentum. At 40, the fighter dreams of earning another title shot and achieving his second consecutive victory in the company.
