The two athletes attempted to establish themselves in the center of the Octagon as soon as the fight began. While the American feinted with takedowns, Ronda landed solid punches to her opponent's head. Despite being briefly knocked down, the Brazilian returned the favor and, after briefly controlling her opponent, returned to the standing position and maintained the lead until the end of the five-minute period.

The Brazilian began to land powerful calf kicks from the second round onward. While Murphy tried to take the fight to the ground, Ronda successfully landed powerful counterpunches. She even managed a takedown late in the round and pinned her opponent against the fence in the final seconds.

Younger and clearly faster than the American, the Sergipe native maintained intelligent movement on her feet but struggled when caught in a tight guillotine by Murphy. Despite the difficulties, she successfully exited the technique and managed to reach the end of the fight.

In the last fight of the preliminary card, Chris Curtis debuted with a victory in the welterweight division (up to 77,1 kg) by using his high-level boxing to defeat Max griffin by split decision in a duel between veterans. With the victory, the fighter broke a streak of two consecutive losses and successfully entered one of the most competitive divisions in all of MMA.

More aggressive throughout the fight, Curtis cornered his opponent against the big man and landed powerful boxing combinations to Griffin's head. Max, in turn, slowed down his opponent's approaches by working straight punches and takedowns.

Despite showing great resilience, Griffin found himself unable to respond to his opponent's pressure and relentless style, and clearly grew tired in the second half of the duel. Thus, Chris Curtis was declared the winner by split decision, with two judges scoring it 29-28 in his favor.

After the Brazilian's triumph, Jake matthews won Chidi Njōkuani by submission with a rear naked choke in less than 70 seconds in a duel valid for the welterweight division. This was the third consecutive victory for the Australian, who also challenged Gilbert Durinho in the interview with Daniel Cormier inside the octagon.

After dealing with the American's aggressiveness on his feet in the early stages of the fight and moving into the clinch, Matthews secured the takedown and transitioned to the back with ease. Without much trouble, he locked in a rear-naked choke and forced his opponent to tap out just as the clock ticked down to one minute and nine seconds into the first round.
