Towards the trilogy, the former featherweight champion (up to 65,7 kg) seeks his first victory over his compatriot after being defeated in the previous duels.

“One hundred percent. With Dustin, he's also a guy who points downrange. So I wouldn't be surprised if he starts, if he starts. At the end of the day, I mean, you have to do it. If we get to the fifth round with 10 seconds left, I think he can beat me to that and point downrange first. Absolutely, I'll take that any day of the week,” Holloway told MMA Fighting.

Finally, the fighter regretted being chosen to be Poirier's last opponent, but did not fail to express his thirst for revenge against his rival.

"It sucks to be the spoilsport, but it has to be done. When he's walking off into the sunset, I'll still be here, trying to get a title shot or trying to become a double champion and make history. At the end of the day, I have to go out there and do what I know. It's a shame this has to be it, that it has to be Dustin's last, but that's how the cards are dealt," he concluded.
