Jhonata Diniz is the first Brazilian to receive an offer to fight at UFC Rio and gives a positive nod to the heavyweight prospect

The event did not publicly announce its arrival in Brazil, but athletes accepted the offer to face each other in the 'Marvelous City'

Mystery over! Amidst suspense over whether negotiations for UFC Rio would gain momentum, fans finally have the first fight of the card confirmed: Brazil's heavyweight representative (up to 120,2 kg). Jonathan Diniz and Portuguese Mario Pinto agreed to face each other in the 'Marvelous City' on October 11th at the Farmasi Arena. The information was revealed by journalist Guilherme Cruz. Despite the announcement, the organization has not yet officially announced their arrival in Brazil.

According to the journalist, the event is being planned as a Fight Night, meaning there will be no title fight to headline the show. Names like Carlos Prates, Mairon Santos e Eduardo Moura have already asked for the opportunity to be selected to fight in front of the Brazilian public.

Victorious in his last appearance, Jhonata returned to winning ways after defeating Alvin Hines by unanimous decision. Known for his outstanding stand-up skills, the athlete's request was granted and he was offered to face an opponent who doesn't have a preference for wrestling or jiu-jitsu.
