After years of dominance in Bellator, where he won titles in two categories, Patrício “Pitbull” Freire returns to the UFC octagon this Saturday (19) for his second fight in the biggest MMA organization in the world. In the main card of UFC 318, which takes place in New Orleans, the Brazilian faces Dan Ige in search of his first victory in the Ultimate and definitive affirmation among the best featherweights (up to 65,7 kg) on the planet.
"I'm very motivated, more than that, I'm committed to getting there and getting a victory the way the fans like to see," said Patrício. "I didn't let up in the last fight and could now be going for the belt. I'm going to show everyone that I came here to be the champion."

Patrício made his UFC debut in April of this year against Mexican Yair Rodríguez, a tough fight in which the Brazilian ultimately lost by decision. Despite this, he assures that adapting to his new home was not a problem.
"It didn't have any impact; I was pretty calm. But I think a combination of factors—so many years of fighting only five rounds, more than a year without fighting, lack of rhythm—ended up contributing to me not letting go as much in the fight."
The duel against Dan Ige It promises to be electrifying. The American is known for his endurance, strong pace, and sharp striking—characteristics that Patrício respects and takes into account when developing his strategy. "He's a complete fighter, has a strong chin, and puts on exciting fights. Striking is his strongest point."
To emerge victorious at UFC 318, Patrício plans a more aggressive and assertive approach from the opening minutes of the fight. "Come in as a hunter. There are things I could have done differently in the fight against Yair, and you'll see me doing them now."
Even though he remains fully focused on Saturday's fight, the Brazilian doesn't hide his ultimate goal: to win the UFC featherweight belt.
"As always, my focus is one fight at a time. But the ultimate goal is clear to everyone. I came here to be a champion, and I will be a champion," he concluded.
