The 'Diamond' promises to step into the octagon for the last time this Saturday (19), when he will face Max Holloway in the main fight of UFC 318. Nate diaz e Dustin poirier were scheduled to fight at UFC 230. The pay-per-view was held in November 2018. However, a hip injury forced Poirier to withdraw from the fight. Poirier returned to the Octagon in April of the following year, at UFC 236, and won the interim lightweight title with a decision victory over Holloway in the second meeting of the trilogy that will conclude on Saturday (19).

the fight against Max Holloway, another legendary UFC name and former featherweight champion (up to 65,7 kg), has a special weight. Besides being a duel between two icons, it is also worth the symbolic belt of 'Baddest Motherf*cker' (BMF), currently held by the Hawaiian. The victory could be an emotional bonus that, for Poirier, would set the perfect tone for closure.

"It would be huge. A dream come true. My last fight, putting the gloves on the ground in Louisiana... My UFC debut was to the sound of Lil' Wayne. And now, in my last, I'm going in with the real Lil' Wayne. I've been able to provide a beautiful life for my family, built businesses, and made friendships that will last forever. If I walk out with my arm raised and this belt on Saturday, there's no way around it: I'm the Baddest Motherf*cker forever," he concluded.

UFC 318 was set up with its history as a 'backdrop', something rare in the world of MMA. Dustin poirier has 30 wins and nine losses in his career, as well as memorable fights against names like Conor McGregor, Justin gaethje, Dan Hooker and Holloway himself.
