Emotions are not reserved solely for the main fight. The search for Paulo borrachinha e Patrick Pitbull The return to winning ways promises to liven up the main card for the Brazilian public. And what's more: three more Brazilian names make up the lineup for the event that will make history.
To get in the mood, the team at SUPER FIGHTS selected five reasons to follow the show.
1) Farewell to Dustin Poirier
A landmark moment in UFC history. Dustin poirier will have his last fight this Saturday (19). The chosen location was as close to home as possible. Born in the state of Louisiana, the fighter ends his brilliant career in New Orleans.
The 'Diamond' has been shining in the UFC since 2011, with over 30 fights on his record. The athlete began building his legacy in the featherweight division (up to 65,7 kg), with notable victories. In 2015, after being brutally defeated by McGregor, he moved up a weight class.
In the lightweight category (up to 70,3 kg), it was precisely against Max Holloway – in the second meeting between the two – that Poirier won the interim belt of the division. Even though he was defeated by none other than Khabib Nurmagomedov in the unification, he remained among the greats of the category. Another remarkable moment in his career was the trilogy with Conor McGregor. The last two times they met, Dustin knocked out the Irishman.
Now, the last time to put on the UFC gloves will be to close the trilogy with a great opponent: Max Holloway.
2) BMF belt dispute

More than closing the trilogy between Max Holloway e Dustin poirier, the main fight of UFC 318 puts the 'BMF' belt on the line.
The UFC BMF belt is an unofficial title created for the fight between Conor McGregor e Nate diaz at UFC 229. The term 'BMF' stands for 'Baddest Mother Fucker', symbolizing the rivalry and intensity of the fight between the two athletes. Although unofficial, the BMF belt has gained notoriety and become a symbol of MMA history. And one more reason not to miss the main event of UFC 318.
3) Paulo Borrachinha in the co-main event
Paulo borrachinha faces Roman Kopylov in the co-main event of UFC 318 to get back to winning ways. The middleweight (up to 83,9 lbs.) needs to win. In his last five fights, the Brazilian has had his arm raised only once, against Luck Rockhold. He was outclassed by Sean Strickland, Robert whittaker and Marvin Vetori.
The fighter had an undefeated record of 13 fights until he ran into Israel adesanya along the way. However, the Brazilian was unable to find the Nigerian inside the cage, was knocked out in the second round and has been unable to recapture his best form ever since. A victory this Saturday is crucial for the Minas Gerais athlete's return to his glory days.
4) Patrício Pitbull's first victory (hopefully!)

After years of dominance in Bellator, where he became one of the most feared featherweights in the world and won titles in two weight classes, Patrício 'Pitbull' Freire returns to the UFC octagon for his second fight in the world's largest MMA organization. On the main card of UFC 318, the Brazilian faces Dan Ige in search of his first victory in the Ultimate and his definitive affirmation among the best on the planet.
Patrício's UFC debut in April of this year was against Mexican Yair Rodríguez, in a tough fight in which the Brazilian ended up losing by decision. To emerge victorious at UFC 318, Patrick Pitbull revealed that he plans a more aggressive and assertive approach from the first minutes of the fight
5) Brazil in the Octagon

Besides Paulo borrachinha e Patrick Pitbull, three Brazilian athletes defend the green and yellow colors in New Orleans. In the preliminary card, Nicole Caliari opens the UFC proceedings against Carli Judice in a flyweight bout (up to 56,7 kg). The Paraná native is seeking her first victory in the organization. After joining the company through the Dana White Contender Series, the fighter lost to Ernesta Kareckaite in the debut by split decision.
Bruno Hulk faces Jackson McVey in his next fight. The middleweight (up to 83,9 kg) is coming off a victory over Armen petrosyan and wants to establish a sequence by facing the North American who had two fights canceled recently.
In the last duel of the first part of the event, bantamweight (up to 62,1 kg) Vinícius LokDog measures forces with Kyler Phillips. With a good winning streak on his record, with five fights won, Vinícius Oliveira is undefeated in the UFC with three fights since joining the organization through the Dana White Contender Series.
